Best Gifts for Babies
It’s almost November and you know what that means. We are that much closer to the holidays! I decided I want to do a series of posts of ultimate gift guides. We are starting out from the very youngest. Babies! After some research I’ve done, I’m going to share with you my opinion of the best gifts for babies this year.
Sometimes buying gifts for babies is kind of difficult. Especially if you are not exactly sure what an age appropriate present would be. Even as a mom, I found myself scratching my head. There are so many options out there now days, it’s overwhelming.
I usually try to start doing some Christmas shopping starting in October, but this year I’m a little behind already. I like to get it done as early as possible, so that I’m not scrambling for gifts last minute. Plus, I love giving gifts and I put a lot of thought into it, so I need that extra time for price and product comparisons. I’m hoping this series of gift guides will take a bit of the guess work out for you and maybe even reveal some ideas you haven’t thought of before.
Babies Up to 12 Months
This guide will be focused on babies up to 12 months old. One great thing is, toys for this age are for the most part, gender neutral, so that helps a lot. My son is 9 months old right now and will be 11 months at Christmas, so it was really fun looking at products for this age group and thinking about possible gift ideas for him!
This is baby’s first Christmas, so all of your family and friends want it to be extra special. Whether it be toys, clothing or baby gear, there are so many options. Having a baby and a four year old I’m thinking we will do a pretty big portion of our Christmas shopping online this year. It makes it so much easier for comparisons and finding the best possible deals. Also, I don’t have to worry about figuring out a time I can make it to the store without my daughter. She’s getting to that age where we are really going to have to step up our sneaky game. Thank goodness for Cyber Monday!
If you have a toddler to buy for too here is a list of 15 Toddler Stocking Stuffers under $10.
We will probably venture out on Black Friday and brave the crowds to try and get some amazing steals. Here’s when all the Black Friday Ads are going to be released.
Breaking It Down!
This ultimate gift guide for babies is going to be broken down into sections so that it will be a little more easy to navigate. So if you are specifically looking for stocking stuffers, you don’t have to wade through the rest just to find that. Awesome. We’re all about saving some time, right? Okay, so what are the categories?
- Baby Gear
- Stocking Stuffers
The products I have chosen to put on this guide are based solely on my own opinion. The purpose is just helpful thoughts and likes from one mom to another and to simplify the process of picking out and buying gifts!

There are so many great gifts for babies that are both fun and educational for those quickly developing minds. I could probably do an entire post just about educational toys, but for now I’m just going to share my favorites that I’ve come across. Here are my top five picks.
VTech Sort & Discover Activity Cube
Amazing for hand eye coordination. This toy is suggested for up to 3 years, so baby could get a couple years of use out of this before she grows out of it. It’s available on Amazon Prime too, so if you have a Prime account, free/fast shipping!
If your baby is anything like mine they have been playing with your television remote since they could reach to get it. This remote teaches numbers, shapes and first words. Your baby will love pushing all of the buttons and it’s small enough you can take it will you anywhere.
I feel like balls and blocks are kind of a baby toy staple. These are awesome because they are soft enough baby can chew on them to soothe swollen gums. The various textures help with sensory development.
It’s been proven that reading to your baby from an early age has some seriously amazing benefits. It teaches baby about communication and builds listening, vocabulary and memory skills. This board book set has 3 little books with it that are tough enough for baby play too. Available on Amazon Prime.
This super cute little set includes 10 musical instruments. It supports and helps develop hand/eye coordination, motor skills and auditory development. This would be a fun toy to be able to enjoy with siblings as well.
I picked this particular one because it’s really good quality. So dang cute! This would be a great gift for a new baby that they could enjoy for the next year to come.
We are definitely going to need to be getting one of these. My little guy is already cruising on the furniture, so this will be perfect before long. Not only is this a walker, but it also folds down into a table for baby to sit on the floor to play with. This one is so cute and looks like a little shopping cart.
I had to put this on the list because we actually have this already and I absolutely love it! It’s a perfect way to keep him busy and still be able to move around while I’m doing something. The seat is detachable so once baby can stand on his own it can just be a fun little activity table.
I feel like doorway jumpers are kind of a baby gear staple. I love how easy they are to take with you to grandparents house or wherever to keep baby safe where you can see him. It’s machine washable and the straps can be adjusted to different heights.
Graco Pack ‘n Play Playard Nimble Nook
This is something I always wanted, but we never got. Of course we have the full size Pack N’ Play, but this one is awesome because it’s just a smaller version and so easy to move around to where you want it. Plus, it doesn’t take up near as much space. It comes with removable bassinet and it’s available on Amazon Prime.
Teethers are perfect for stocking stuffers. Most are pretty small and at this age your baby can never get enough to chew on!
I know you have seen these cute little toothbrushes before. I’m definitely adding this one to my son’s stocking. It comes in multiple colors and is available on Amazon Prime.
How cute are these finger puppets?! These would be an awesome stocking stuffer and they are super soft.
When I saw these bath toys I just had to put them on the list. Perfect size to slip into stocking and can be enjoyed for years to come.
I couldn’t think of a better gift for baby than a lovey. It’s something that you can give them from birth that they can love and play with for a long time.
This animated plush toy is a #1 best seller on Amazon. Ears move to play peek-a boo and sings do your ears hang low. It has a soft, plush material for lots of baby hugs and is machine washable too. Available on Amazon Prime. This is such a sweet idea for a baby gift this season.
I didn’t even know something like this existed until I started all my research and I am obsessed! This is the perfect size for babies just sitting up and will continue to be a fun toy even when they are standing.
I think this little piano is a little different than the ones you usually see. It has two play modes and large keys for young babies to be able to play. This Pop and Glow Piano would be a really entertaining gift for babies.
Changes stages as baby learns and grows. Cute little toy that grows with your child, that’s awesome! Available on Amazon Prime for fast and free shipping.
Well, I hope this might have given you some inspiration that you needed for shopping for babies this holiday season. Any awesome gifts that I should know about for when I buy for my baby? I love ideas!
